The club's passage through administration during 2021-22 caused the 2022-23 kit manufacturing process to stop partway through. Consequently, these kits were unavailable ahead of the pre-season period. As a solution, Derby County (having exited administration) placed a modest purchase of temporary playing shirts selected from Umbro's standard teamwear range for their pre-season friendly fixtures. These shirts are unlikely to see action during competitive matches, making them unavailable for retail purchase; nonetheless, the club plans to distribute the worn shirts to selected supporters as prizes.
