CF Monterrey and Puma have officially unveiled a special commemorative jersey, the Jersey Legado 86, marking 40 years since the club's first-ever Liga MX league championship, won in the Mexico 1986 tournament. The shirt made its on-pitch debut during Monterrey's 2026/27 Liga MX match against Cruz Azul.
The design
The defining feature of the shirt is the replacement of the modern club crest with the classic 1986 retro emblem, which carries the historic mountain silhouette, a vintage football graphic, and the club's classic lettering. Puma has positioned its red cat logo and the retro crest to replicate the arrangement seen on the original 1986 jersey. Modern club partners BBVA and Codere are incorporated across the traditional navy and white stripes.
A star graphic with the number 86 is printed inside the collar, and the current Rayados crest is placed on the nape of the neck, linking the retro design back to the present-day club.

The shirt is released in a limited run of 1,986 pieces, a number chosen to mirror the year of the anniversary it marks. That first title, won in the 1986 tournament, remains one of the most celebrated moments in CF Monterrey's history, and the Legado 86 kit is built specifically to draw a direct line between that side and the current Rayados squad.
