Borussia Dortmund 2026/27 home kit by Puma: Dortmund's industrial landmarks woven in yellow

Puma has released the Borussia Dortmund home kit for 2026/27. The shirt keeps the club's signature yellow but adds an all-over textured pattern drawn from two of Dortmund's most recognisable buildings, connecting the design to a pair of anniversaries in the city's industrial history.

The design

The base colour is Faster Yellow, BVB's longstanding match colour. Across the entire body runs an angular, architectural pattern referencing the Zeche Minister Stein coal mine and the Dortmunder U tower. The mine is approaching the 40th anniversary of its closure in 2027; the U tower is marking its centenary. The geometry of the pattern reflects the angular structures of both buildings rather than depicting them directly.

The collar is a crew neck with black trim. Sleeve cuffs and side panels are also black, with white accent stripes framing the cuffs and collar. The Puma logo appears in black on the chest and shoulders. The club crest sits on the left chest with two championship stars. Vodafone is the main sponsor across the front; Polestar appears on the sleeve. On the back, "DORTMUND" runs below the collar with "Borussia Verbindet" printed at the upper back neck.

The shirt pairs with black shorts carrying yellow Puma branding and yellow socks with black and white hoop detailing. An authentic ULTRAWEAVE version is available alongside the replica dryCELL shirt. Both are made from 100% recycled material, excluding trims and decorative elements.

The background

Dortmund has used its kit designs to reference the city's Ruhr industrial heritage before, and this shirt makes that connection explicit. The Zeche Minister Stein was one of the last active collieries in the region before closing in 1987; its shutdown marked the end of an era for the area. The Dortmunder U, originally a brewery building topped with the illuminated U symbol of the Dortmunder Union Brauerei, turns 100 in 2026 and has become one of the city's most prominent cultural landmarks.

The phrase "Borussia Verbindet" — Borussia connects — appears at the back neck, a slogan the club has used to emphasise its ties to the city and its supporters.
