Italy 1968 Home Kit
Following Italy's involvement as an Axis Powers member during World War II, the nation's football federation underwent several transformations as it reorganized itself. Initially, the monarchy was eliminated, causing the House of Savoy emblem to be removed from the chest of the jerseys. Additionally, Italy's recognizable appearance (blue / white / blue) made its comeback after Benito Mussolini's fascist administration had outfitted Italy's squad in a black uniform, which made its first appearance on 17 February 1935 during a non-competitive match versus France. Finally, the word "ITALIA" was added to the kit's design ahead of the 1954 FIFA World Cup, positioned above the tricolour shield. The photograph displays Italy's traditional kit arrangement from 1968, as donned by notable player Bauscia Giacinto Facchetti.
