On March 19, 2000, Ajax celebrated its centenary by wearing a special retro kit for its Eredivisie match against FC Twente at the Amsterdam Arena. Marking 100 years since the club's founding, the commemorative uniform failed to inspire a victory, with Ajax suffering a disappointing 1-0 defeat to the visitors.
